BATTAL EBRU
Boyaların sadece fırça yardımıyla kitre üzerine serpilmesiyle oluşturulan ve iğne ya da tarak gibi herhangi bir şeyle müdahale edilmeden yapılan mermer desenli ebru çeşididir. Yapılan işlem bakımından en basit ebru olmasına rağmen sonuç itibarıyla yapımı en zor ebrudur. Kumlu ebru dışında bütün ebruların yapımında ilk işlem battal ebrudur. Ebrucunun bütün ustalığı yaptığı battal ebrulardan belli olur çünki ardarda atılan boyaların öd ayarları doğru yapılmazsa ya kitre yüzeyinde boyalar arasında kalan renksiz damarlar mermer damarından daha büyük olur ki buna ebrucu dilinde "falso" denir ya da boyalar sıyrılırken akar ve birbirine karışır. Batılı ebrucular, boyaların böyle akmasından kurtulmak ve işi kolaylaştırmak için GELENEK sayfasında Türk ebrucusu tarafından neden kullanılmadığı açıklanan kâğıdı ebrulamadan önce şapla terbiye etme yöntemiyle boyaların akmasını engellemeye çalışırlar. Yan kâğıdı olarak ya da levha kenarlarında dış pervaz olarak kullanılır.
